I’m a writer. I mostly write fantasy fiction.

I wrote my first novel at age 10. It was heavily inspired by Harry Potter, Treasure Planet, and Skies of Arcadia. I wanted to combine all of my favorite childhood tropes into a single piece of fiction. I still have the draft of that story about a kid going to military school for space pirates. I’ve tried re-writing it a few times since then, but I always think that the next version will be better.

In middle school, I discovered and experimented with fan fiction. I wrote two long-form works during this period, but I’ve taken them down.

From Highschool through university, I thought I needed to be practical and that the way to do this was to take a degree in a STEM field. Now I have a degree in CompSci and many years of IT work under my belt. This was always meant to be a stepping stone to working as a software developer on my way to being a researcher in computer science. It remains to be seen whether this will have been fruitful.

During this period, my closest friend describes me as having been a “prolific writer of first chapters”. In fairness, some of them were only ever intended to be first chapters, but most were abandoned.

In May of 2024, I began writing the draft of what is now my first full original novel which I intend to publish. It’s going to be published under the pseudonym Pat McGroynne, but you’ll be able to find more information about it here. Look for “In Another World with my Balls” in early 2025.

I’ve also begun writing fan fiction again. You can find my work on https://archiveofourown.org/users/Soren_and_The_Contents_of_Lot_277
Presently, I have a work which combines characters from My Hero Academia, the Parahumans series by Wildbow, and the Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. Forthcoming fan fiction I plan to work on between writing volumes of my original work include: a rewrite of the Harry Potter series and a re-imagining of The Legend of Korra as an epistolary novel. Like my HeroAca fanfic, these other two are currently planned as multiple, discrete volumes I can work on to take a break between volumes of my original fiction.
